TURBULENCE

Turbulence (2022) is created from a rotten piece of sycamore. The piece encompasses beauty and death. The fungus that has compromised the wood creates beautiful colouring and patterns throughout the timber, contrasting with the healthy timber. This contrast is mirrored in the smooth, flat top falling away to the irregular, textured underside. The shape of this piece is directed by the wood, utilising as much as possible while removing softer material where needed.
