Collection: IONA MCVEAN
Iona McVean is a Scottish designer working across architecture, interior design, and sculptural ceramics. She grew up between Moray and the Isle of Lewis, yet her creative practice is deeply rooted in the Western Isles. A recent graduate of the Bartlett School of Architecture, she has developed a multidisciplinary approach to place and materiality.
Her work is shaped by time spent hiking and camping along the remote, Atlantic-facing beaches of the Outer Hebrides. Her father’s passion for beachcombing trained her eye to observe closely and find beauty and potential in what has washed ashore. Discoveries like bleached whale bones and fluorescent fishnets caught in the rocks often reappear in the forms of her ceramic lamp bases. These objects are both functional and sculptural - pieces that could sit within a curated interior, yet feel as though they’ve been found on a rocky beach.
Iona hand-makes her glazes under the tuition of her grandmother, carefully selecting each final colour. Her annual collections are informed by the specific places she explores.
