Red Hot consists of two interlocking slab-built ceramic blocks with textured sides achieved by slamming and stretching the raw clay, then meticulously scraping, sanding and glazing the surfaces with a thick, glossy red glaze. Fitted with a conical insert, the sculpture can hold the Cone Series by Hanna Fastrich, a series of porcelain and stainless steel vessels that can hold florals and anything else your heart desires. The brutalist cantilevered structure fired to a red hot stage and beyond sits in tension with delicate floral arrangements it may hold.
