TAKE A SEAT — SOHO HOUSE, BIRMINGHAM

Take A Seat was a dining experience creatively directed and produced by Slancha for Soho House, Cities Without Houses, celebrating Birmingham and the West Midlands' rich industrial heritage and enduring culture of making.

Set within a former industrial space, the evening brought together contemporary design, craftsmanship and hospitality, with a collection of bespoke steel stools at the centre of the experience.

Designed and made especially for the occasion by Birmingham and Black Country-based studio Super Ornament, each stool shared a common form but was individually finished by hand. Through processes including grinding, polishing, heat treatment and natural oxidation, every piece developed its own unique character, reflecting the region's manufacturing heritage through a contemporary approach to material experimentation.

The stools became an integral part of the evening, displayed throughout the space and used by guests around the dining table. At the end of the night, each guest was invited to take their stool home, transforming a functional piece of furniture into a lasting reminder of the experience.

Take A Seat celebrated the relationship between people, objects and place, connecting Birmingham's industrial past with its evolving contemporary design scene.
