HANGING BASKETS — LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL 2026

Hanging Baskets was a group exhibition curated and produced by Slancha in collaboration with Awaykin for London Design Festival 2026, hosted at Awaykin's space in Hackney, London.

Bringing together ten contemporary designers, the exhibition reimagined the traditional hanging basket through the lens of collectible design, exploring the relationship between sculpture, function and floral arrangement.

Each designer was invited to reinterpret the familiar components of a hanging basket — the wall bracket, suspension and vessel — as a single sculptural work. The resulting collection presented ten distinct approaches to form, material and making, transforming an everyday garden object into an expressive piece of contemporary design.

In collaboration with floral designer Studio Kumari, each work was brought to life through bespoke floral arrangements, creating a dialogue between natural and manufactured forms.

Hanging Baskets celebrated experimentation, craftsmanship and the unexpected possibilities of familiar objects, bringing together emerging and established creative voices in a playful exploration of contemporary collectible design.
