Working predominantly with waste and found materials to make furniture and objects, Byron’s practice is unique in the way it finds commonalities in both how they have been discarded by others, and his approach to imbue them with new value through elevating them into beautiful furniture and objects. For Byron, the process of designing and making act as a medium in which he is most confident in explaining himself - the constant throughout hiss projects and material research is a focus on being able to make a lot with very little. Byron adopts “primitive”, often traditional methods and processes in order to achieve very contemporary outcomes, finding the challenges, graft and complexities of balancing the two both fun and fascinating.
